The climate here stays warm across the seasons, the early afternoon is often uncomfortably hot, and a pool that closes for half the calendar would miss the point of the building entirely.
It sits in the open courtyard at the centre of the property, which means the walls of the hotel stand between the water and the street. Sound from the Centro arrives softened, sunlight reaches the surface for most of the day, and the shaded walkways along one side give somewhere to sit and dry off without leaving the courtyard.
